Privacy Policy

Effective October 3, 2026. Mise keeps the policy plain: we collect what is needed to run the app, and your recipes stay yours.

What we collect

Account info

Your name, email address, and a Firebase user ID

To create and secure your account and sign you in

Photos you add

Dish photos, recipe images, result photos, share cards, profile avatar

To show your recipes and cooking the way you saved them

Your content

Recipes, notes, and cooking-session history you create

This is the heart of Mise - your cookbook and memories. Recipes you save are visible to other Mise chefs by default; you can make any recipe private at any time. Personal kitchen notes stay private.

Product interaction

Which features you use and how you move through the app, plus the campaign link (utm_source) that first brought you to Mise on the web

To understand what's working and improve the app

App diagnostics

In the iPhone and Android apps: crash reports and performance data (device model, OS and app version) and an app-install identifier, not tied to your name or email

To find and fix crashes and slowdowns

Processors we rely on

Google Firebase

Authentication, database (Firestore), and file storage (Cloud Storage). Your account, recipes, photos, and history live here under your user ID. In the mobile apps, Firebase also provides analytics and crash reporting (Crashlytics).

Vercel

Hosting and the app's API layer.

Anthropic (Claude)

Powers cooking coaching and step tips, ingredient substitutions, and recipe generation. When you use one of these, the text involved (your cooking questions and notes, the recipe you are cooking or asking about) is sent to Anthropic to generate a response. Claude also steps in as a backup to read the photos, links, and text you add if Gemini is unavailable. Only used after you allow AI help, which you can turn off anytime in Settings. It is not used to train models on our behalf.

Google (Gemini)

Reads recipe photos, links, and pasted text you add, including pantry photos, so Mise can turn them into a recipe you can edit. That content is sent to Google's Gemini API for this purpose. Only used after you allow AI help, which you can turn off anytime in Settings.
